Book Club

The CBT Book Club is comprised of adult members of the congregation who meet several times per year to discuss both fiction and nonfiction books that have Jewish themes, ideas, or characters.

Book titles are generated by the group members and may be current bestsellers, classics, or books read by members who have made recommendations to the group. Although there are members who participate regularly, the group is fluid in that new participants are always encouraged to attend.

The format of the discussions is focused on open discussion where all opinions are welcome. In fact, when there are varied opinions the discussions are much more lively.

A few of the books we have discussed in the past include: The Two Family House, by Lynda Cohen Loigman, In the Garden of Beasts, by Erik Larsen, The Yiddish Policeman’s Union, by Michael Chabon, and The Zookeeper’s Wife, by Diane Ackerman.
