Warm Yourself With Our Winter Learning Series At CBT

Led by Rabbi Lisa Eiduson

There is an old truism that maintains that “Judaism is not a religion for children.” Judaism is difficult, complex, ancient, and nuanced. It is only recently that we have heeded this truism and adapted the means by which we teach our children at their level about being Jewish.

Many people do not discover – or re-discover – Judaism until much later during adulthood, for as adults, we find the journey into the meanings and messages of Judaism to be rich and compelling.

The lesson: It is never too late.

A new book by Sarah Hurwitz entitled Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life--in Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There) is not a “how-to” book about Judaism; rather, it is a “why-to” guide that explores the deep, “adult” meaning of Judaism and the ways it can transform us.

Sarah Hurwitz was the head speechwriter for Michelle Obama and a senior speechwriter for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Senator John Kerry and others. Her ideas about the value of Judaism, especially in light of contemporary times and issues is informative and inspirational.

Hurwitz’s book will be the starting point for CBT’s winter adult learning series led by Rabbi Lisa Eiduson. While reading the book is recommended and will surely enrich our discussion, it is not a prerequisite for attendance at the class sessions. The book is available in hardcover only since it is new and on Kindle. You may borrow it from the library or order it online

Sessions will be held 9:30 - 11:00 AM at Congregation B’nai Torah:
