Why We Joined

"The open and caring environment, the relaxed feel of Friday services, and weekday-only Hebrew School were the best fit for our busy family. It’s a diverse and inclusive congregation, with many interfaith families — something that is very important to us."

Shabbat Service with Domestic Violence Awareness Guest Speaker

Looking at Domestic Violence Through the Eyes of A Jewish Survivor

Please Join Us for this Special Shabbat Service and program.

Date: March 8, 2019

Time: 7:00pm

Location: Congregation B'nai Torah Sanctuary

In addition to Rabbi Lisa Eiduson and Cantorial Soloist Jodi Blankstein, this evening’s program will feature:

  • Julie Youdovin, Community Program Coordinator for Journey to Safety, the Domestic Violence Program of JFCS
  • A Jewish Domestic Violence Survivor
  • Susan Pettit, A founder and board member of The Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable

In conjunction with the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable, this evening will also serve as the kickoff for a collection drive for the Roundtable’s Shower for Shelters Program. Congregants will be asked to bring much-needed new “shower” gifts to benefit survivors who are leaving shelter and transitioning to a new home. Collection baskets will be located in the temple for the month of March. Needs lists will be attached to the baskets and can also be found here. The collection will culminate at the Women’s Seder on March 30, 2019.  Donations will benefit clients of three local domestic violence programs, REACH Beyond Domestic Violence in Waltham, The Second Step in Newton, and Voices Against Violence in Framingham.

For a specific list of items to donate, please see our Shower for Shelters webpage.
